Fr. Ted Dziak's Recovery
As you probably heard by now,Fr. Ted Dziak, president and Chairman of St. Georgeís College, who was badly injured in a motor vehicle accident that occurred in late November last year.
Apparently, he left Kingston to visit a Sixth Form retreat that was in progress near Annotto Bay. His car collided with a van, and he was pinned behind a maze of twisted metal and broken glass. He sustained two badly broken legs, was operated on for 4 hours receiving a rod in one leg, along with pins and screws in both. He had been recuperating at the Jesuit Centre Hospital in Boston, wherein it was felt he would be off his legs for several months.

However, much to everyoneís surprise, he turned up for the Hall of Fame Banquet in Jamaica that was held January 31. Sporting a beard that didnít appear to have any white hairs at all, (thatís probably because I saw him at night) the new look Fr. Dziak was moving about quite nicely on crutches.

He told me that the hospital only let him out for that week end, and that he had to return on February 3rd. or else his pre-programmed crutches would disintegrate 5 seconds after midnight on February 4th.

Fr. Dziak had to be constantly hobbling up to the podium to present awards, and also to receive donations for the school. He was however, always under the watchful eyes of a couple of 6th. formers who were always at his side as safety support. Recently, I heard his bodyguards, Fathers Hosie and Deschais, accompanied him back safely to Boston, without incident.

Click email Fr. Dziak to send him your best wishes.
